Job details: The Stroke Unit of Nice University is the expert centre for acute phase stroke treatments for the Alpes Maritimes Department, Monaco and the northern region of Corsica (Bastia), it is the regional referral centre for mechanical thrombectomy (with Toulon and Marseille) and for vascular neurosurgery.

The Stroke Unit has 8 beds of intensive care for the hyper acute stroke management, 16 stroke unit beds for post-acute stroke care. Patient’s volume is about 700 patients/year, with about 150-200 mechanical thrombectomy/year. There is an ongoing project of extension to 24 beds in the post-acute stroke care ward. The stroke team is composed of 5 doctors (Dr MH Mahagne, Dr Emilie Panicucci, Dr Marie Cantier, Dr Chiara Bruno, Dr Barbara Casolla), with recruitment perspective.

General objectives of Neurovascular training include:

Improving your clinical skills in acute stroke diagnosis, revascularisation treatments, medical management of neurological and extra-neurological complications;

Improving your knowledge on stroke aetiologies, complications and diagnostic workup;

Improving your know-how for secondary prevention strategies decisions;

Improving your vascular and neuroimaging interpretation skills (scanner, MRI, cervical and transcranial echocolordoppler), according to the clinical context;

Possibility to assist as an observer during mechanical thrombectomy or neurosurgical procedures (decompressive hemicraniectomy);

Training on clinical research, including participation in clinical trials and observational studies.

Basic level of French required.
